{"product_id":"antique-set-of-knives-mother-of-pearl-and-silver-plate-cased","title":"Antique Set of Knives. Mother of Pearl and Silver Plate. Cased.","description":"The stand out feature of this set is the beautifully hand-carved mother of pearl handles. The mother of pearl is of very high quality and would have been carved from Australian pearl shell which were exported to England from the 1800s.\n\nThe metal is silver plate, which is more valuable than stainless steel or chrome but less valuable than sterling silver. The main draw-back of silver plate is that the light scratches which can be seen on the metal cannot be polished out. Whereas, as sterling silver is solid silver, it can be continually polished until all marks are removed. However, the advantage of silver plate is obviously that it is significantly more affordable than sterling silver.\n\nAll pieces are in good order with the blades firm in the handles. The metal has light scratches which is typical of silver plate and for a set produced approxiatemly one century ago. The 6 knives are 17.5cm. The bread knife is 23cm.\n\nA wonderful piece of history and will be an interesting addition to any table setting. A lovely gift for anyone or for any special occasion.\n\nFree shipping is provided but there are optional upgrades depending on the speed of delivery that is required. Please be sure to include your phone number if FedEx delivery is required as they cannot send without it.\n\nPlease get in touch if you have any questions about the piece. It will be a pleasure to assist. Please also check out the other pieces in the store.\n\nGuarantee: The purchase price will be refunded, no questions asked, if you are not satisfied with the piece upon delivery.\n\nShipping: Free shipping each business day included so it will leave quickly following an order.\n\nPeace of Mind: Every single order is fully insured.\n\nBackground: We are avid collectors across a range of interests but with a particular focus on pieces featuring mother-of-pearl, English sterling silver and pocket watches. We hope you enjoy the pieces as much as we have enjoyed the process of finding them over the years.","brand":"Barrington and Son","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":48782277279844,"sku":"246","price":250.0,"currency_code":"AUD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0759\/3836\/5540\/files\/246MOPPlateCutlerySetIMG_0046-Photoroom_EditwithAI_-Photoroom.jpg?v=1785285688","url":"https:\/\/www.barringtonandson.com\/products\/antique-set-of-knives-mother-of-pearl-and-silver-plate-cased","provider":"Barrington and Son","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
