Jacques Perille Corkscrew, Circa 1900,France

A classic French Jacques Perille winged corkscrew dating to around 1900. This elegant design was patented by Jacques Perille in 1865 and remained in production until approximately 1937, making it one of the best-known mechanical corkscrews of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Constructed entirely from steel, it features Perille's distinctive three-sided wingnut mechanism. To use, the worm is screwed into the cork by turning the upper handle clockwise. The three-sided wingnut is then turned, gently raising the cork from the bottle with minimal effort.

This example is in very good antique condition and remains both an interesting collector's piece and a practical corkscrew more than a century after it was made.

Measuring approximately 13cm, it displays the quality engineering and understated design for which Jacques Perille corkscrews are renowned.
