Description

An elegant antique French dessert service by A. Peter, Paris, dating to the early–mid 20th century. This refined 24-piece set comprises 12 gilt dessert knives and 12 gilt dessert forks, each beautifully finished with thick hand-carved mother of pearl handles and housed in its original fitted presentation case.

The flatware features warm gilded metal blades and tines paired with striking iridescent nacre handles, giving the set a sophisticated Art Deco / Hollywood Regency aesthetic. Each piece is stamped “A. PETER” with the maker’s mark, and the felt-lined interior of the case bears the retailer’s stamp:
“A. Peter – 4 Rue Flechier – Paris”

A beautiful statement set for elegant dining, entertaining, or display, equally suited to collectors of French silverware, Art Deco tableware, or fine mother of pearl objects.

Very good antique condition overall with light age-related wear and surface scratches to the gilt finish consistent with careful use. Mother of pearl handles display beautiful natural variation and lustre.
