Description
An antique caviar spoon, beautifully fashioned from mother of pearl, with an intricately carved handle featuring delicate foliage and a scalloped shell motif.
Mother of pearl has long been prized for serving caviar, as its naturally non-reactive surface does not impart a metallic taste or interfere with the delicate flavour of the roe.
Likely dating to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, this spoon reflects the period's appreciation for natural materials, refined table accessories and decorative craftsmanship.
A beautiful addition to an elegant table setting, and a distinctive gift for collectors of antique tableware, mother-of-pearl objects or fine dining accessories.
