Mother of Pearl Spoons – Original Case, c. 1900

A pair of antique silver-plated serving spoons, featuring beautifully embossed grape and vine decoration, mother of pearl handles and their original fitted presentation case. Dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910, these decorative spoons are a fine example of the craftsmanship and refinement associated with formal dining at the turn of the 20th century.

Each spoon features a shallow, oval-shaped bowl with a delicately scalloped edge, richly decorated with raised clusters of grapes, textured vine leaves and flowing tendrils. The silver-plated surfaces have a warm, golden-toned interior that enhances the intricate botanical detailing.

The turned mother of pearl handles display natural iridescence, with subtle variations in colour and lustre. Decorative ribbed silver-plated ferrules provide an attractive transition between the handles and slender stems.

The pair is housed in its original black presentation case, finished with fine gilt lining to the exterior. The interior is fitted with deep burgundy velvet, braided edging and a rich crimson satin-lined lid, providing a striking setting for the spoons.
