Vintage Dunhill Lift-Arm Lighter. Cased.

A classic vintage Dunhill lighter. They were primarily produced from the end of the First World War until the end of the 1950s. This one is in excellent condition. It has a horizontal flint tube. It comes with a new flint installed. When it is spent, new ones can be bought from any tobacconist for less than a dollar. The fuel will be drained for shipment. To refill, unscrew the cap at the bottom of the lighter and poor in any lighter fuel such as Zippo fluid.

The snuffer arm, shown open in the second image, closes down to extinguish the flame and protect the wick. Since you have to 'lift' the snuffer-arm each time you want to use the lighter, they became known as 'lift-arm' lighters. The lighters were originally sold with a windguard.
